Ahmadu Sambo is the founder and President of Kessel Capital Advisers Limited. The Firm was incorporated in February 2020 as a financial advisory services boutique which aims to provide world class financing solutions to business enterprises in Nigeria.

He is also the co-founder and President of Sambo Okolo & Company, LLC, CPAs, a full-service Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The Firm has been in business operation since 1994 and counting.

Executive Experience In Nigeria: Currently, Special Finance Consultant for NNPC Group, having retired statutorily in September 2018 as Group General Manager (GGM) in charge of Group Finance for NNPC on second tour, to provide additional transitional support to the Division. Since retirement, he has helped deliver several financings for NNPC, notably, NLNG’s $2.5bn Funding of Upstream Gas Supply and $3bn 3^rd Party Financing of its Train 7 Facility, and executed Term sheet with Bank of China and SINOSURE for $2.5bn for the AKK Pipeline Construction Project and negotiations have reached advanced stage. The same goes for PHRC with AFREXIM Bank.

As GGM Finance he played a key role in negotiating the BOT Arrangement with Diya Fatimilehin for the Rehabilitation of the Molina Office Building in Lagos in 2009/2010. And as MD NNPC Pension Fund (inherited owner of the building) he helped implement the Operating Model and managed the interface with the Contractor/Operator. In addition he successfully delivered several financings for NNPC

Prior to that he was Managing Director (MD) of three NNPC Subsidiaries: NNPC Oilfield Services Limited; NIDAS Marine Limited; and NNPC Pension Fund Limited during which he successfully guided the Fund through a restructuring exercise aimed at eliminating the pension funding gap, anchored by aggressive pension assets growth strategies and reduction in actuarial pension benefit obligation, to achieve a sustainable pension scheme. He also acted as Group Executive Director, Corporate Services for nine months. These assignments were preceded by a very successful value creation and image enhancement leadership as GGM Finance on a first tour. His promotion to GGM Finance was in recognition of his excellent leadership qualities and skills as well as his successful accomplishments as General Manager (GM) in charge of NAPIMS Finance & Accounts, and of CHQ Group General Accounts Departments.

In recognition of these services Ahmadu received First Place Ministerial Award for Outstanding Staff Performance in December 2018 from Dr. Emmanuel I. Kachikwu, HMSPR. He also received Group Managing Director’s Merit Award in 2017 from Dr. Maikanti K. Baru, GMD NNPC.

Executive Experience Outside Nigeria: Prior to joining NNPC in 2005, Ahmadu gained broad managerial, professional and technical experience outside Nigeria: First, he successfully co-founded, led and managed the growth and development of a full-service Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm in Boston, Massachusetts for over eleven years. This Firm, of which he remains its current President, is still in business today. Services performed included temporary controllership for several closely held businesses; financial, compliance, operational and efficiency assurance and information services for companies with hundreds of millions of dollars in revenues and assets under management; consulting and management advisory services including business plan preparation, loan packaging and syndication, accounting and processing systems design, implementation and training; and tax planning and preparation. Clients included both public sector: U.S. Government, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and City of Boston; and private sector companies and high net worth individuals. Second, the solid foundation upon which his technical and professional experience was built included over seven years of training and mentoring at one of Boston’s largest and most respected CPA firms.

Ahmadu graduated from the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria, with BSc in Business Management in 1981. He obtained an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, NH, USA. He is a Certified Public Accountant (in New Hampshire and Massachusetts) since 1988.
